As educators and choreographers within the contemporary dance sector, with experience both nationally and internationally, we understand just how vital it is to support young, aspiring dancers as they navigate today’s highly competitive landscape. We have witnessed firsthand the transformative impact BICDPrix has had on its participants. It has been incredibly rewarding to see dancers gain confidence, develop their artistry, and go on to pursue flourishing careers, with doors opening both nationally and abroad. We remain dedicated to honouring Louise’s vision, while continuing to nurture and expand the BICDPrix community, both across Australia and internationally, creating opportunities, connections, and inspiration for the next generation of contemporary dance artists.

Louise was a beloved artist, mentor, and visionary whose extraordinary career spanned nearly 40 years. She danced with grace and strength on both national and international stages, inspired countless students and teachers around the world, and created deeply moving works, including through her own company, Lucid Dance. In 2018, she brought to life one of her greatest dreams, The Brisbane International Contemporary Dance Prix. What began as a bold vision became an internationally recognised competition, and a platform that continues to launch young dancers into careers. Louise’s kindness, humility, and unwavering passion left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her students, peers, and the many lives she touched.
